I drew You on the cross today.
I drew You on the cross.
And as each line fell into place
I understood the loss.

A glimpse of pain You chose to bear,
The thorny crown upon Your head
The nails, the spear, the open wounds
You bore them in my stead.

My reason for this sketch of You,
To share the gospel story,
Absorbed into Your pain-filled eyes;
All that remains is sorry.

How I despise my sin-filled state
I wish I could be better.
But You have done it all for me;
Erased my sin, each letter.

So now I stand before Your throne,
Clothed with robes of righteousness,
Basking in Your grace and love
Rejoicing in forgiveness.
