I have many different ways of signing off from writing a letter: “Take care,…”; “Have a great day/evening,…”; “Love,…”; “Lots of Love,…”; or for formal/business letters, “Best Regards,…”. Some of you may have noticed, however, that my typical signature has changed in recent weeks to “In Christ,…”. This is because when I am drained, when I have nothing left, when all my resources are spent, when I have come to the end of myself there is still infinitely more of Him. He surrounds me, sustains me, strengthens me. “In Christ,…” reminds me of these things, and in recent times I find myself unable to pen anything other than this. “In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28), and “without Him [we]… can do nothing” (John 15:5). In Him I find my true identity, and in Him I am beloved.
“Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” (Doxology, Thomas Ken)
