Sometimes we get it into our minds and hearts that there’s a cosmic wrestling match between God and Satan – perhaps because we struggle so much with good and evil ourselves. But the amazing thing is that there’s really no contest. God always wins. We may suffer momentary defeats, but in the end:
Evil:God = Ant:Us

(A little something for the the mathematically-minded… evil is to God as an ant is to us.) Satan wrestling God is as ridiculous as an ant wrestling me.

I’ve recently just finished watching a sermon series on evil and suffering, by Bruxy Cavey, entitled “My God Why?” It was really good, so I wanted to recommend it to you, below:

Questioning the Suffering God
The Problem With the Problem of Suffering
The Origin of Evil
Evil Explanations for Evil (And A Few Good Ones)
A Spirituality of Suffering

I found it insightful and thought-provoking. We all suffer at some point in our lives, some of us more than others. This sermon series is an excellent way of preparing us for the inevitable, and challenging us to engage in suffering as a practice – to suffer alongside the broken and suffering, as Jesus did.
