Okinawa is in a subtropical climate zone and has comfortable weather throughout the year. It is the only Japanese prefecture located in this type of climate. The average annual temperature is 22.4℃ (72.3℉); even during winter, the temperature averages 16℃ (60.8℉) and never dips below 10℃ (50℉).
